Yes, you’re reading correctly, this is the LAST PAGE of arc one! I decided a while ago that I’d be splitting up the Steel City Order story up into multiple story arcs in order to give my artists some time off. In a few weeks, we’ll be starting up Arc 2 with a brand new artist whose art I’ll be showing off here soon! Thanks for sticking with us through arc 1 and we hope you join us again for arc 2!

Hello once again, ladies and gentlemen!

Yes, the page is late! I am sorry! I take full responsibility for this one. As you are likely unaware, I work a part time job to pay for Steel City Order, and as you are even more likely unaware, I am currently training for a promotion at this job. Since Steel City Order is a rather expensive commitment, I’m training VERY HARD for this promotion because I enjoy making Steel City Order, and I’d like to continue doing so, but our new artist taking over for Justin is quite a bit more expensive. So I’m taking responsibility for being late, but blaming it on work. Anyway, I’m REALLY REALLY excited about the things coming up soon for SCO. Arc 1 is drawing to a close, so I’ve got some really interesting stuff to announce about it, but I’ll probably hold off until next week to do so.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

It’s announcement time! Since the beginning of Steel City Order, we’ve had a lot of trouble with artists. They tend to quit on us halfway through penning their first page because they realize they don’t have the time to commit to a project as big as this one. Things were going badly for a long time until I met Mr. Justin Wood. Truth be told, Justin is way too good at what he does to be sitting down here with us lowlives in the indie webcomic business. But he took pity on me, or something, and decided to become the new artist for Steel City Order. It is with a great sadness that I announce today that at the end of Chapter One, Justin will be leaving us. Without him, Steel City Order wouldn’t have ever had a fair shot, and he was an integral part in building it, and will forever be important to its success. It’s hard to lose a guy like Justin, but like I said, he’s way too good at what he does to be working on something like this. He’s moving onto much bigger and better things, and I wish him all the luck in the world with it.

Justin’s official statement is as follows:

“I was probably harder to work with than Jeff was. He was generally amiable and flexible when it came to the material, and far less of that obnoxious anal retentive obsessive that any of us amateur comic creators have known; convinced that their work is the holy follow up to the legacies of Lee, Moore, and Gaiman. Instead he’s a guy with a pretty fun story who wants to see it realized, and maybe make a few buck and a few fans.

I think ‘SCO’ is authentically pretty neat, and from the little hints of what comes in the future, more fun to draw as the series continues. My leaving ‘SCO’ has nothing to do with a dispassion for the characters, his personality, or the story, and everything to do with time and money, both of which I don’t have enough of.

I’ve worked with terrible writers. It sucks. Jeff is not a terrible writer. In fact you’d be hard pressed to find many unknown webcomics with this quality of writing. Shakespeare it may not be, but it’s a solid script and probably the second best amateur script I’ve ever had the pleasure to draw for.

I genuinely enjoy the characters and think with a long enough timeline (and prettier art then mine) it could develop into something really special.

I’m already hard at work finding a suitable replacement for Justin, but the truth is that he’s going to leave a hole in Steel City Order that will never be filled. Everyone please wish him all the luck in the world and stay tuned for more news on Chapter 2 as it develops.

Sorry there was no post last week, our artist had another emergency to attend to, but everything is alright, and these things happen. You know what they say, when it rains it pours. I know I’ve been saying for a few weeks now that I have announcements to make, and I still do, I’m just not sure when they’re going to be made yet. Some of the stuff I wanted to announce is taking a bit longer to happen than originally expected, so that’s why the delay.
